Night Light Affair

I can’t remember the first time I saw you

Perhaps it was when I was a tender youngin’

But I’ve always stood in awe of you.

Mesmerized, please forgive me for staring

Your light is magnetic that’s why I’m glaring.

Ruler of the physical and emotional body

You ignite the spirit, heighten the senses

Peak intuition and creativity.

When did you get that rabbit tattoo?

Google says it’s folklore

But I want to hear the story from you.

What is it like where you live?

The Queen of the Earth’s atmosphere

The stars are your doting subjects

Burning only to magnify your vastness

A goddess of the night

And a witch’s companion

Hiding behind soaring matchstick evergreen trees

The cool silver of your skin illuminating lonely paths

Coming in cycles and phases

With different faces

I’ve always blushed, cheeks a flame with arousal, when you’re full

When you’re Super your frame satiates the sky

I marvel at your grandeur

Your size bursting with the sweetness of a ripe Florida orange

I fall more in love with you

If I drive to the end of the road

I think you’ll be there waiting for me

I imagine I have the capacity to cup you in the palm of my hands

Running my fingers over your craters

As I recount each one of their names

You cloak lunar dust on the pads of my fingertips

The original mirror

I’m under your spell

Yet you revolve around me
